The term of greeting words can be defined as utterances used to speak to someone, greet or call someone customarily as an interlocutor. In the Indonesian language, greeting words is used by the speakers to greet their interlocutors are quite varied, for example, the types of greeting words which are mostly used are kinship and non-kinship terms. This research formulated as follows, How the form and the use of kinship greeting words on Java communities in Jombang village, Jombang subdistrict, Jember regency and how the form and the use of non-kinship greeting words on Java communities in Jombang village, Jombang subdistrict, Jember regency.

This research uses the conversational method with various techniques. (Sudaryanto 1993:137) this method compatible with the interview method. The conversational method could be differenciated based on usage, that is basic technique and advance technique. The use of basic technique is provoking technique. it means, the researcher has to provoke someone or some people to talk. Then, the advance technique use Tansemuka technique it means the researcher not direct  involved to the direct conversation, written only. So, the researcher used closed questionnaires.

The next phase of Tansemuka conversational is a direct recording technique, the phase of analysis data use frontier method and the advance technique is classified decisive element technique. the data were obtained from the step of collection data were classified and analyzed based on the theory of the word greeting of Java language system form.Java. The phase of presenting the analysis result use formal and informal method. Formal method is used to describe the symbols as the transcription utterance such as symbol “[…]” as the sign of phonetic transcription. Informal method is formulated by using ordinary words, continued with descriptive presentation.

The result of this research is the use of kinship greeting words includes: 1) description of the use of greeting word forms in farmers family with old age born in 1960s for the father and mother and generation born in 1980s for the children; 2) description of the use of greeting word forms in farmers family with old age born in 1980s for the father and mother and generation born in 2000s for the children; 3) description of the use of greeting word forms in merchants family with old age born in 1960s for the father and mother and generation born in 1980s for the children; 4) description of the use of greeting word forms in merchants family with old age born in 1980s for the father and mother and generation born in 2000s for the children; 5) description of the use of greeting word forms in employees family with old age born in 1960s for the father and mother and generation born in 1980s for the children; 6) description of the use of greeting word forms in employees family with old age born in 1980s for the father and mother and generation born in 2000s for the children: 7) description of the use of greeting word forms in labors family with old age born in 1960s for the father and mother and generation born in 1980s for the children; 8) description of the use of greeting word forms in labors family with old age born in 1980s for the father and mother and generation born in 2000s for the children.

The result of the discussion of the use of Non-kinship greeting words includes: 1) description of Non-kinship greeting words on people with low social status; 2) description of Non-kinship greeting words on people with medium social status; 3) description of Non-kinship greeting words on people with high social status; 4) description of Non-kinship greeting words based on physical characteristics. Several greeting words used by the people including greeting words like wul-kriwul, dek-gundek, den-ganden, reng-sireng.
