ABSTRACT
The object of this research deals with media discourse. There are four selected news articles from two official websites of English-language newspaper in Indonesia; The Jakarta Post and The Jakarta Globe. Concerning with Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) law revision, many news articles have released by these two media. Four news articles have been intentionally selected, two from The Jakarta Post and the rest two from The Jakarta Globe as the main data of this research which are considered to have bias towards KPK. They report the revision proposed by the House of Representative as a negative action which can be dangerous for KPK. In this case, the bias exists. Fairclough’s three dimensional frameworks and Halliday’s systemic functional grammar focuses on Transitivity, Mood and Modality system are applied in this research, in which linguistics features, news production and social contexts are explored. However, the result of this analysis in this research reveals that language in the news articles are never biased-free. As a result, it is suggested to the reader that always be aware and always think twice when reading a news.

ABSTRAK
Obyek dari penelitian ini adalah empat artikel berita pilihan yang di ambil dari dua situs resmi media koran berbahasa Inggris di Indonesia; The Jakarta Post dan The Jakarta Globe. Media tersebut banyak menerbitkan artikel mengenai isu tentang revisi undang-undang KPK. Artikel-artikel tersebut telah memberitakan bahwa revisi yang diusulkan oleh Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat di anggap sebagai tindakan negatif yang dapat melemahkan KPK. Keberpihakan muncul dalam pemberitaan ini. Oleh karena itu, analisa dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Kerangka tiga dimensi Fairclough dan Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) Halliday yang memfokuskan pada sistem Transitivity dan Modality di mana ciri-ciri linguistik, produksi berita dan konteks sosial juga di teliti. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa dalam artikel berita tidak pernah lepas dari keperpihakan. Sehingga, disarankan bagi para pembaca agar selalu sadar dan berfikir dua kali dalam membaca berita.
