OF REOG SINGO BUDOYO ART STUDIO IN PONTANG VILLAGE, AMBULU DISTRICT, JEMBER REGENCY DURING 1970-2012

ABSTRACT

This thesis discusses about the Existence of Reog Singo Budoyo Art Studio in Pontang Village, Ambulu District, Jember Regency during 1970-2012. The problems in the thesis are 1) the history of the initiation of Reog Singo budoyo Art Studio; 2) how Reog Singo Budoyo Studio develops from 1970-2012; and 3) how thw government and society take part in preserving the art of Reog Singo Budoyo. The method used in this research is historical metod applaying topic selection, heuristic, source critique (external and internal critique), interpretation and historiography. The theory focus in this research is theory of culture by Pater Burke. The history of the initiation of Reog Singo Budoyo Art Studio in 1952 cannot be separated from the arrival of migrants from Ponorogo who sittled down in Pontang Village in 1925. The dynamic of the art studio occurred within 1970-2012 and was coused by many rivalries and modern era enhancements. Other than that, economic fsctor also triggered the ups and downs of the organization. The passion of the artists cannot be separated from the support and enthusiasm from society in preserving the existence of Reog art.
