ABSTRACT
The study will mainly discuss the communication ability of student with limited communication ability named, Habibie who studies among his normal peers. Habibi’s communication ability will be analyzed as the following (1) Habibis’s illocution speech acts, which include assertive, directive, commisive, expressive, and declarative speech acts; (2) Habibi’s ability to understand the conversational implicature; (3) Habibi’s ability in understanding presupposition; and (4) Habibi’s ability in using deixis. The study shows that (1) Habibi can only use four kinds of speech acts. As a whole, Habibi can use nine out of 28 kinds of speech acts; (2) despite his different response, Habibi is able to understand implied or hidden messages of the other speakers; (3) Habibi fails in understanding the common knowledge he should have. with speech partner; (4) Habibi possesed. An ability to use deixisin his communication, such as pronoun, of flace, and of time though his ability is limited in Madurese deixis.
