THE TERMS IN CITRUS AGRICULTURE OF JAVANESE COMMUNITY IN SAMBIMULYO VILLAGE, BANGOREJO SUBDISTRICT BANYUWANGI DISTRICT (ETHNOLINGUISTIC STUDY)

ABSTRACT

This research discusses about the terms in citrus agriculture of Javanese community in Sambirejo village, Bangorejo sub-district, Banyuwangi district which is reviewed through ethnolinguistic study. The objective of this research is to describe the form, meaning, and the use of the terms in the citrus agriculture. Moreover, it also aims to describe the factor behind the emergence and the use of the terms in citrus agricultural field. This research was done by using three stages. The first stage is providing the data by using interview method. The second stage is analyzing the data by using extra-lingual similarity method. The third stage is the explanation of the data analysis result by using formal and informal method. There are two kinds of data in this research, they are oral data and written data. Oral data is sourced from the terms spoken by the javanese community who work as citrus farmer. Written data is sourced from dictionary, articles, and similar researches. The terms are in the form of verb, noun, adjective, and verb phrase. The factors behind the emergence and the use of the terms are cultural factor, location factor, onomatopoeic factor or sound imitation, comparison factor, tools or equipment used factor, and foreign language uptake factor. The terms in citrus agriculture is used in every citrus farming process from field preparation stage to harvest sale stage.
