ABSTRACT
Term is a certain name which has a specific charaterictics or name that contains words or combination of words, expresss meaning, concept, process, situation or special characterictics in a particular area. The use of terms in particular area is not only used an expression, but they can also facilitate a person in order to communicate in specific area. Each area was given by society based on the process of the mitoni ceremony. Mitoni ceremony is the traditional ceremony of Javanesse carried out at the age of seventh month pregnancy. The research on the terms used in mitoni conducted in Kalibaru wetan village, District of kalibaru, Banyuwangi regency. The dicussion of the meanings of the terms is based on ethnolinguistics study. The study shows that based on meanings, there are special meanings which exist only in a spesific area, namely mitoni ceremony. The terms used in mitoni ceremony are in the basic form, derivatives, and phrases.
