SUMMARY
The Film Semiotic Analysis by Christian Metz: A Case Study of Religious Value Visualization on Hijrah Cinta Movie; Alga Lilis Kusuma Dewi; 110110401012; 125 pages; Television and Film Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Science, the University of Jember.
Hijrah Cinta movie is a biographical film describing a life story of Us tad Jefri A1 Buchori escaping from the darkness to the brightness of Allah SWT. Half of the story shows young Uje’s addiction to narcotics. Jefiy is performed as a normal human being that is guilty and has millions of sins. Moral values elicited on Hijrah Cinta movie can be used as guidance for society. They are fascinating to be discussed because good movies bringing positive values to society are highly needed. Therefore, the research discusses about the visualization of religious value on Hijrah Cinta movie.
The analysis on the movie uses the film semiotic approach uttered by Christian Metz as he discusses about the pattern and meaning of shooting. The research about the visualization of religious value on Hijrah Cinta movie also employs the gestalt cognitive psychology theory by Wolfgang Kohler. The gestalt cognitive psychology theory is used to empower the visualization of religious value related to the human learning process on Hijrah Cinta movie. Thus, the research will not only elaborate the visualization of religious value but also the perception of the religious value on the movie.
The result of the research about Hijrah Cinta movie by using the large syntagmatic category is the visualization of religious value including six syntagma and one autonomous shot. The main religious value on the movie based on the observation result includes sincerity, patience, insistence, and piety. The four religious values are described by using Metz’s semiotic method. The value of sincerity is visualized through the analyses of parallel syntagma, episodic sequence, scene, and alternate syntagma. Insistence is shown through scene analysis and ordinary sequence, while piety is visualized through the analyses of parallel syntagma, scene, autonomous shot, alternate syntagma, and descriptive syntagma. Sincerity and insistence become the dominant values appearing before Uje repents, while patience and piety appear a lot after he repents. The analysis of the religious values on Hijrah Cinta movie shows that value to tell at the beginning of the film is about Uje’s attempt that is full of obstacles, so he needs sincerity and insistence to face them. In the middle until the end of the film, it shows about Uje’s attempt to survive on the right path, so he should be full of patience and piety. The values are beautifully arranged on Hijrah Cinta movie. They become clearer with the description support based on the gestalt cognitive psychology.
A method used to ease the human’s understanding to face a problem, insight in learning has six characters employed to reach the understanding process. The six characters of insight in learning become a method to analyze the understanding achieved by Uje after he repents. The understanding is formed through five insight typical stages, including that: insight depends on the basic ability of human being; insight depends on relevant past times; insight can be repeated easily as it becomes understanding in human’s mind; and processed insight can be used to face another new situation. The understanding gained by Uje on the changing process is having a good life and struggling on Allah’s side.
