abstract

This article discusses the personal choice of female main character, Kirani, in Muhidin M. Dahlan’s Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur. The goal of this study is to show the dominant factor that influences Kirana for becoming a prostitute. By using a multicultural feminism perspective that emphasizes on the struggle of woman in the midst of multicultural society, I found that Kirana experiences a deep disappointment because a Islamic secte she follows giving her misconceptions of religions doctrines. This situation leads her for becoming a prostitute as her personal choice. The struggle and personal choices will make woman resisting against the oppression and having a bravery to face all her problems.
