THE POWER RELATION AND THE REPRESENTATION OF “KEN AROK” IN SAINI K.M.’S KEN AROK, PARARATON AND NAGARAKRETAGAMA: AN INTERTEXTUALITY STUDY

Abstract

 

This article identifies and describes the structural and intertextual elements in Ken Arok story in Saini K.M.’s Ken Arok, Pararaton and Nagarakretagama. The technicque of analysis used in this article is descriptive qualitative for describing the structural and intertextual elements in the hypogram texts as the background of earlier texts, the power relation of Ken Arok as the king of Singasari, and the representation of Ken Arok as and a historical figure in each script. This study shows the difference of Ken Arok story, the leadership way in the power relation, and the representation of Ken Arok figure in each script.
