THE ECONOMIC DYNAMICS OF COFFEE FARMERS IN KAYUMAS VILLAGE, DISTRICT OF ARJASA, SITUBONDO REGENCY DURING 1999-2013

ABSTRACT

This thesis discusses the economic dynamics of coffee farmers in Kayumas village during 1999-2013. Kayumas village is one area of smallholder coffee plantations located on the slope of Mount Ijen. The smallholder coffee plantation in Kayumas village had always been developing, in terms of either the area or the number of farmers, especially by the government assistance. The existence of smallholder coffee plantation in Kayumas village also showed farmers’ roles in facing various economic problems such as dynamics of production and coffee yields marketing which certainly affects the farmers’ income. This thesis used written and spoken sources which are relevant to the subject of discussion. The discussion of this thesis focused on economic history and farmers’ roles as main social actors.
